Being the only one that worked on 4th day CNY, joined the gang for dinner after work. *-* We ended up having Shabu-Shabu at Kuchai Lama, as recommended by Lung.
Priced at RM31.80 per pax, no wonder this buffet steamboat restaurant was jam packed when we arrived.
From Japanese restaurant that used to serve sushis on conveyor belt, steamboat buffet restaurant that uses conveyor belt style are also getting more popular. We can take anything from the conveying belt, and also order the pork and beef slices. For plates of fishball, each plate only has up to 3 pieces or so. So nice to see all the plates stacked up.. Shows that we eaten a lot, and make it worth the money paid.
Each of us will get own bowl of soup. Soup choices are miso soup, clear soup or tom yam.
During first 10 mins or so, we were continuously taking plates from the conveyor belt. Seriously, there are really lots and lots of food - fresh plates of fishballs, prawns, meatball, pork and beef slices, vege, beancurd skin, mussel, squid, dumpling... really bermacam-macam le..
By the end of the dinner, the table was completely messed up. And yes, we have eaten lots of food.

I'll compare this to Shabu-Shabu Bandar Puteri Puchong by listing its pros and cons. Whether try or not you decide:
Pros
* A little spacier seating (but the shop is actually smaller).
* There are 3 soup bases (chicken,tomyam,miso)
* Free flow of ice creams, soft drinks & fruit platters.
Cons
* Obviously less variations in the food department.
* No food label (not systematic!)
* The pot takes longer to heat up (not a big problem, but still...)
* The plates and covers are not matching and handle-friendly, it's easily slipped aside when you take from the conveyor belt.
* Some of the food have no covers.
* Stingy on raw pork (extremely rare to find on the conveyor belt, you only get when you ask the waiters, and they come almost frozen...)
* Some of the food are not fresh (corn, fillet, chicken)
* Time limit 2 hours on weekends and public holidays (although most people don't eat more than 2 hours, telling people they have a time limit is rude)
* No beef and mutton.
* Overactive staffs that are rude and annoying (keep collecting empty plates although there's only 1 or 2 empty plates, put all your raw food on a single plate without asking for permission, stand there waiting for you to empty your plate to collect them)
* No ice-blended drinks / green tea.
* Carpark is harder to find, and the drivers there like to cut your carpark queue even though you're obviously waiting for the parking space.
* Last but not least, the price for buffet dinner is RM31.80 nett per pax, which is more expensive. So I'd say it's not worth it.
I'll never patronize it again, simply because there are cheaper and much better alternatives.
Hi Secruoser,
Thanks for your detailed comments... and since there are a lot more cons than pros, I shall skip trying its Bandar Puteri branch.. Thanks!! ^-^
i been there before... about the con i think something should be corrected...there is beef and mutton served even the abalone pieces just ask from them ask as many as u can finish it..hehe... i am goin to visit again....
Dear Anonymous,
Thanks for letting me know that. In that case, that calls for another visit there soon..;-P
the waitress (especially the cashier) are very rude!!!
today saw her shout at one customer...
Tried it for the first time yesterday, pretty impressive. There are beef, mutton and pork on request. Even Abalone pieces. Do enjoy the dinner but one set back was there is not enough varieties of chili sauces. Sambal Belachan would be great instead of chicken rice chillies which is not that suitable for any dishes there. Anyway, it is just my opinion. Would try again.
Привет!
